How to help your picky eaters
Do you have a picky eater at home that refuses to eat just about anything?! I have brothers who are STILL like this and I just don’t get it. I think trying foods is a fun adventure and if there is something I try that I don’t like, I just add it to my list of DO NOT EAT foods haha okay well I wish it was that easy with kids, but unfortunately its not!
We partnered with Clarissa from @bringingupfoodies for some tips on how to help your toddlers who are picky eaters! She tells the story of her family and how completely opposite her two kids are with eating. She has some amazing tips for how to encourage these picky eaters and I am so excited to share them with you!
Are you ready for a little sneak peak?!? I am going to share one tip with you that she shares! All of her tips were so amazing and it was so hard to pick just one, but here you go!
Repeated exposure: While he might express dislike for a certain food one day, this doesn't necessarily mean that he won't like it the next day, or a week from now. At this age, preferences are still evolving, so I take the approach of continuing to offer that same food, often presented in a new way, multiple times and at some point he will usually give it a try.
This tip was a total lightbulb moment for me! Even as adults, our taste buds are always changing so just because we didn’t like it a few years ago, doesn't mean we won’t like it now. Continually exposing your kids to different foods helps them to become more familiar with the food and one day they will try it. Don’t give up after just one time!
